Norton Security keeps automatically popping up on my desktop. How can I delete it for good? Ive noticed it 5 times in the last 3 days alone. A norton security icon pops up on my desktop adn each time I see it, I uninstall it and remove it form the desktop, but it keeps coming back. Im scared it's the worm thats been going around. I do have a very good antivirus software, McAfee, and I regularly scan my computer and download updates. But how can I block this from my computer or delete it for good? __________________________ yahoo keyword tool ~ overture ~ traffic estimator ~ adwords traffic estimator

If you go to the Norton website, I believe that they have a special uninstaller available there to completely uninstall their software.

I run as fast as I can from Norton. It is too bad that it is become such a poor product. I used to recommend it everyone - now I go out of my way to tell people to stay away. I believe that Norton installs several different process/services/programs on your machine. It is likely that the uninstaller you are using is not uninstalling all of them. Do you know what version of Norton you had installed? See if this link helps: http://service1.symantec.com/Support/ts ... 3108162039

If there aren't enough "stay away from Norton" messages, may I add mine? I used to love them, but had some bad experiences with them, and now I stick with Microsoft's "Security Essentials" software (free) that seems work well--and without unnecessary bloat.

I also use this software, seems to work pretty well I came across a computer I couldn't uninstall Norton too(not mine but a friends computer) It wouldn't let me uninstall it so I disabled it by checking it off the list of the programs to start up at boot. (msconfig-under "startup tab") This way the program won't startup when windows boots up. Just an idea... Dean

I have norton 360 for a couple of years now without problems (touch wood) the only thing that hapened is that last month on renewing i found strange that it was cheaper for me to bye from the store the disk ($49) than to re-register for another year($61), originaly I had downloaded from the net so now I have a disk a lot easyer on re-install
One thing that I really don't like with Norton is that at night i put my pc in sleep mode and odten i notice that Norton as started to check things while the system is idle so it turns it on, of course my pc goes back to sleep after but it is strange to wake up in the middle of the night and see light comming from the pc room.
